“Hope can be understood as well by the blind beggar as the religious scholar. Respecting the simplicity of the message  and the humility of the simple, I don’t want to romanticize the exotic path of the other. Every person must discover the way in which the message of hope destroys and liberates their own self. This is an equal opportunity reality. If the message of hope can only be received and embraced by the poor, then I am poor—because I am in desperate need of a reality of hope that breaks into the private dungeon of my solitary void of meaning and home.”
