Hi Mark, My name is Denise, and I like reading your blog and ReImagine/Emmaus Road stuff. My husband and I live spittin' distance from you in Pacifica -- it's been our home for 17 years (before that we were Calvary Chapelites living in the City). I admire you and your wife for heeding this certain call to raise a family up there in the Mission -- yay, you found SF's banana belt! We, along with a few other friends, left the city when our kids reached school age -- but I love that we are still close by. My husband is a surfer/engineer and I teach technology at a local christian school. My two kids are college students at UC Santa Cruz and might hopefully visit Vintage Faith Church one day. Meanwhile we are in fellowship at Coastside Community Church where our new Pastor (Christian Missionary Alliance affiliated) serves up good spiritual food to a pretty mixed crowd. Last Sunday I noticed he referenced "Velvet Elvis" by Rob Bell which reminded me that I've intended to read some titles from emergent church authors but there are SO MANY of them that I don't know where to begin. OK, I'll read yours ;-). In the meantime I'm joining my first book group at the invitation of a new, non-christian friend and we're reading Paul Coelho's "The Alchemist". It should be interesting, as I will be one of two christians hanging out and being all literary. Anyway, I wanted to say that your post brought a much appreciated giggle today and prompted my first comment. Thanks! “huge - and hairy”
